Unexpected

I never expected it, it was totally a miracle for me. Ever since my first MA in my first year, I had never seen a B, hardly even a C. And now, after more than a year, after so long, I got a B! I almost couldn't accept what I saw. Stunned. Totally stunned. And I was the very first person to see the results as Ms Erni put the result slip up on the notice board right before my eyes!

I have a few classmates who never failed any exams, some hardly. B might be the lower limit for them, and no one would ever know how much how much this B means to me. I failed four assessments in a row this year, and it really made me lost confidence. I used to be so confident with my academic performance since young. Yet, ever since the first time I failed, I had been constantly struggling and doubting if I would even make it through this course. And I admit that there were times when I regretted taking up this course.

You would never imagine how this lighted up my day. I was walking back from school, smiling all the way like a fool, with people staring at me. And as I reached my unit, I screamed and jumped like a kid! I was so so so so so happy!

And now, I think I've picked up a little bit of confidence, and much faith. :) I'm gonna give a good shot this last semester in UCSI KL campus, and hopefully my journey here will end on a joyful note!

I never knew it would hurt this much.

Tuesday 20 August 2013

Disappointment does follow when there was expectation in the first place. :( It's becoming like a roller coaster ride for me. So many things took place for this last one month you can never imagine how many highs and lows have I been through within this short period. I just need someone to talk to :(

Tuesday 9 July 2013

I knew it would be tough, but I seriously didn't know it would be that tough. How I wish I could get my team to cooperate with me. I really can't do this alone. With one month of effort and this is all I've got. :(

Thursday 13 June 2013

I'm back in KL again. The last time I come back before school reopens.

Seriously, bloggy, I don't know what am I thinking. I don't even understand myself. I'm so confused with my own reasoning. Can these stupid things just stop playing in my mind? Can I just get on the way I used to be? I hold on, I let go, I turn back and look, and ask myself, "Will I ever regret this?" Sometimes I want it close, but when it gets near, all the reasoning just run wild in my mind and I'll tend to keep myself at a distance, just to watch it slowly fade away.

I guess, I should just keep myself out of this.

Friday 31 May 2013

Dear blog. Hello again.

I've been sitting in front of the laptop all day, discussing with other committees, preparing and editing letters, contacting company after company, posting announcements and making requirements. I know I'm like disturbing everyone. Hahah. I feel sorry that I had to do so. Our vice OC and secretary had been even busier and I can understand how difficult it had been for them. My job hasn't been difficult for me till now but I know that this is just the beginning.

I saw this yesterday:

"Leadership appears glamorous at times, but it is often lonely, thankless and filled with pressures to compromise values and standards. Nehemiah was able to accomplish a huge task against incredible odds because he learned that there is no success without risk of failure, no reward without hard work, no opportunity without criticism, and no true leadership without trust in God."

It was quite encouraging for me. So I'm taking this as a Word from God, and trusting Him with all my heart. :)

一路向北

Hi bloggy! I'm going to tell you my story of traveling all the way up to the north of Peninsular Malaysia :)

It all began on April Fools' Day when I decided to play a prank on my friend by saying that I was going to Perak and that I wanted him to show us around. And then we started discussing about my trip to Perak. I was pretending only, of course. :p But the more we "discussed", the more I felt like going. So this trip of mine to Ipoh was a 弄假成真 case haha.

First stop - Batu Pahat

Karen, Hong Ling and Nikita first came to BP to hang out with Amanda and I. We had dim sum first at Ming Castle, with Karen's dad. Probably because I was too shy to speak loud, Karen's dad didn't hear me at all when I said "Uncle 吃" for 3 times lol hahaha. Many of the dishes we had were actually my first try too. :p And I must say the dim sum is nice here :))

We went bowling on the first day. Karen, who claimed that it was her first time playing bowling, actually scored the highest mark among us. Eh-elleh pretend-pretend sahaja *shakeshead*. I brought them to Pantai Punggur to see the sunset, because I find the sunset view there really beautiful. But apparently everyone got hungry waiting so we left before the sun really set.

Well never mind, because a most sumptuous dinner was awaiting us! :D We had porridge, fried mee hoon, fried rice, satay, tandoori and the most tasty cheese naan ever! Amanda's dad was on the house and he really did ordered a lot. He must have expected an army to join him for dinner :p

Karen and I the more hardworking ones went jogging the next morning to burn some fats. But deep down we knew that the fats we consumed far outweighed the fats we burned. Hehe. So what next? Briyani gum! Yay! More fats! We had our fill before we paid Nikita's cousin a visit to see her cousin's cute little daughters. It was amusing to watch Nikita talking to the kids. Awww shooo cute. :))

So we spent the whole afternoon at Amanda's cozy home for a Disney marathon, watching Tarzan and the Aristocats; listening to songs from Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King etc. With all the Disney animation to choose before your eyes, you wouldn't want to leave your seat! Especially with that superb arm chair. Hahaha. Okay well I almost forgot one thing. We had mango marathons at Amanda's house too. And that was our utmost pleasure. The mangoes were so sweeeeet :D

Amanda's parents tapao-ed siput for them at the end of the marathon. We were so full we decided to take a walk at Amanda's church, and whoa... The night sky was really beautiful. Twinkle twinkle little stars we saw :D Well, those who come to BP mustn't miss out our Yong Chi Steamboat coz they have their signature juicy fried chicken and the most tasty salted egg-coated pumpkin ever :p And that was where we gave Amanda an early birthday surprise with a cake named Oriental she chose HERSELF hahaha!

I brought them for breakfast at Amanda's second home in BP the next morning. Amanda couldn't join us because she didn't have transport back :( We said bye to BP and up to north we went.

Second stop - Kuala Lumpur

Well actually, this was a resting stop for us. Karen and I had wanted to make a trip to Kamal Bookstore, but her housemates discouraged us to do so because it was already quite late in the afternoon. So all we did was getting bus tickets to Ipoh and having our dinner at I Love Yoo! and Tutti Frutti.

Third stop - Ipoh

We set out the next day afternoon, with Hong Ling and Felicia, reaching Ipoh in the evening. Kah Chun and Zhen Theng picked us up, and we put all our belongings at Zhen Theng's place first, because we brought otah which had to be kept frozen. His house is furnished with a set of imported furniture, and I'll say it's nice. We had wanton noodles for dinner, at the place where I requested Zhen Theng to bring us, after I saw his photo on Instagram. Haha :p I'm good at food-spotting I guess. They brought us to Riverwalk at Sungai Kinta, where we saw colourfully lighted trees :) And then we went for the most meaningless movie ever - The Great Gatsby. Stupid ending. Not because the movie was stupid, but because the movie cruelly showed how stupid humanity can be.

We had breakfast at Foh Sun Dim Sum the next morning. Yay dim sum again! We ordered quite a lot, and when everyone was full but there were still leftovers, they started to say I used to say I have good appetite la I only ate a little la and all sorts of excuses just to make me finish it. Terrible. I tried my best to swallow as much as possible. Pity my stomach. After that we went for Karaoke, where Hong Ling chose a lot of emo songs from Jay Chou. Well obviously, she likes his songs. Haha. Kah Chun, didn't miss out his signature song 独家记忆. And so we emo-ed together for awhile. xD Lol actually, that wasn't just all. Once, Karen and I went to the toilet and we literally lost our way back. Haha! I have to admit that I have no sense of direction. And so does she :p We lunched at 大树脚, having Yong Tau Foo! I enjoyed it :) Ab-so-lute-ly delicious!

We met up with Sonia and had dinner at Michaelangelo's. We shared a little cute brownie and two huge pizzas. Sonia invited us over to her house for tea, and that's where for the first time I tried Punjabi tea! How to describe it? I'd say it's a mixture of bak kut teh and milk tea haha! It tasted like herbs. Apparently Punjabi girls have to know how to brew this special tea before they are qualified to get married. And guess what next? I asked Zhen Theng and Kah Chun to bring us for the hot dog they mentioned about the night before. I shouldn't have been such a pig. Thay tricked us to eat the spiciest stuff ever in my life! I didn't even bite it, just a touch of it and I screamed " 辣! " Can you imagine how spicy that was? And Felicia swallowed the whole of it. Can you imagine again?! Her tears kept rolling down her cheeks all the way. That made them guilty and so they offered her muaci they bought in the afternoon. Hahaha. Now you know. We went crazy that night taking funny photos, playing heart attack. And yes, I was the first to sleep. As piggy as ever :p

The next morning, we had fish head noodles, and then finally my Ipoh white coffee! :D And as if we hadn't had enough, Zhen Theng ordered sam kin xiu min pao. And gave me a lesson on how to pronounce that. -.- His parents sent us to the bus station after our breakfast. I wanted to give his mother the tapioca chips we got from BP, but his mother insisted not to accept and asked us to bring it to the seaside when we're in Penang. Haha. His mother was really hospitable and cute la. :) So we continued traveling to the north! :D

Last stop -  Penang

Finally, we made our way to our last stop - Penang. Wilson, Jack and Crystal were already waiting for us when we reached. We first had our lunch of Penang's famous assam laksa, and they brought us to a water reservoir where we had a photography session. Haha. There's this candid shot that I like a lot.

They then took us to Bukit Bendera where we had another photography session. :p Dinner was at a hawker centre where we ordered a whole lot of food. Rojak, o-jian, ikan bakar, cai-dao-kueh... Just all sorts of nice nonsense food lah. :p So then, we had a brisk walk at a bay before we head towards our refuge tower haha. We stayed at Wilson's dad's apartment, which overlooked Batu Feringghi. We had the whole unit to ourselves. And we played heart attack again. HAHA.

The next morning...... Finally the long awaited Penang prawn mee! :D They ordered different kinds of food which we shared. And I made a new discovery: Penang's curry mee tastes good too! :p Wilson took us to our first mural visit, which was kinda worn out, probably by the weather, or the waves, because it was drawn on the wall of a wooden house above the sea. But I got something! Hehe.

I got myself this lovely notebook :)

I don't know why, but I  love this particular mural very much. Maybe it was their smile? Or maybe it just showed the love and strong bond siblings could have towards each other? :) Whatever the reason, it just warms my heart.

Jonathan and Hui Mei joined us that afternoon as we went to a historical place of interest in Penang.

So of course, when there's no food, all we did was photography again :p

So we found murals at this place too huh ;)

We had an extremely sumptuous lunch which was again a mix of all sorts of nonsense, then we had coconut jelly for super high tea. We were so full! They took us for the long anticipated mural in some of the backstreets in Penang. Sadly, it began to rain and we didn't manage to put our photography skills to work :(

Dinner was by a street. I don't have to repeat what made up our meal, coz I won't be able to remember all the nonsense we ordered :p Wilson took us for almond tea. It tasted like medicine haha. I wonder if he brought us there to see our reaction drinking that funny thing or he really find it nice and wanted us to try as well. Well we can forgive him for that, seeing that he kept us entertained with his singing in the car that night. He was like a live radio, "playing" one song after another, and some more, songs of our choice. :p

Anyway, that night, it was heart attack again. Haha. And then a game of "Truth or Dare". Well we didn't manage to dig out much stories from each other, neither did we come up with any dare that was very daring. But we did hijacked Zhen Theng's Facebook account a lot and made Kah Chun selca on Facebook :p

The next day, after breakfast, we managed to had our street art visit once more! This time, we took loads of photos ;)

We rushed our way to the bus station after that. Thanks to Wilson's good driving skills, we made it. Haha!

This trip was overall an enjoyable one, having the time to relax and have fun with friends. I enjoyed myself. :)

Finally

Hello again, after such a long time. I didn't realize I haven't blogged since this year began, until last month. Someone asked me:"Has not your life been happening since 2013?" It's just the other way round bro. Life had been like a roller coaster ride for me since 2013. It's just that when you're in the middle of the ride, how can you possibly pause for a moment and blog?

Well...... I really don't know how to start. In fact, my holiday started two weeks ago but I kept excusing myself from updating my blog because I seriously don't know how am I supposed to record all that had happened all this while. Maybe I'll do it month by month? Alright here we go.

January

The only thing I can remember of January now is the flash mob we did. Karthik was the PIC- person in command, and I could see that he was doing his best to make it a success. And throughout the process I think what gave me the deepest impression would be him apologizing again and again? :p Have to admit that he's really a peacemaker. You may imagine our flash mob to have caught the audience by surprise with the dancers coming in one by one out of no where. Well no. Before we even started the student area was already flooded with crowd, with cameras here and there. Apparently many people, especially our former classmates knew about it and were waiting there to watch. Great supporters, aren't they? :)

February

You won't imagine that I'm actually updating this in October haha. I can only look through my photo album to recall what went on in February coz I can't remember anything lol.

Hmm well one of the significant events would be the Sexual Health Awareness Campaign which was held for three days. I wasn't involved much in this campaign, besides the visit to Sg. Buloh Hospital. Harri assigned me to be in charge of a game station which I initially thought to be unfair as this was group D's job in the first place. But I prepared for the game, still, till a few days before the event when Shi Hao told him to reallocate the task to group D members lololol. We had did most of the job so all they had to do was to just carry out the game. And so my game station was passed on to Zhen Theng.

After this not-so-exciting event came the very exciting Chinese New Year! :D I can't remember much of what happened, but I know, we had our last reunion dinner with our grandmother, because she passed away later on in March :( My Chinese New Year wasn't of much fun because it seemed to be more of a study break. We had an exam right after the holidays so I didn't get to play all I wanted to. And I kinda felt sorry towards Husna for having to rush home just to study, otherwise she could have had more fun hanging out visiting friends. Sigh. Life as a medical student :((

What touched me was when my Interact Club friends celebrated my birthday! We were at Raymond's house for gathering, and Wan Yi walked in with a birthday cake, which really surprised me as I wasn't expecting a birthday cake this year. Thanks a lot! :)) I do appreciate it and I'm missing you guys now writing this. :')

March

One event I remember most is the captain ball competition! :) It means a lot to me as I witnessed how united our classmates could be. That was when I started to appreciate them. I was kinda forced into the competition, I didn't want to take part for I knew how bad I was at games. But it turned out to be an unforgettable experience for me. It was super exciting watching them play! My classmates proved that medical students are not nerds! ;p I remember how I fooled Aiman by nodding my head when he asked if I was his team mate, and he passed me the ball surprisingly when I thought I wasn't gonna fool him with my very hypocritical smile. :p I remember how we had a "secret meeting" a day before the game to discuss "strategies" as though we were about to march into war. I remember how Kelvin encouraged me seeing that my team mates were not so cooperative when it came to practicing. I remember how we had fun talking nonsense, and how they started calling me RBC. I remember how when Karthik tried to be lame by showing me what's a red blood cell, I got him speechless by showing him how a sickle-cell was like. I remember Wilson's cool way of catching the ball, keeping it out of reach of the opponent's catcher by just swiftly jumping up and reaching out to the ball. Cool and composed, impressive! ;) I remember how Karthik and Loga, who are football players, played well in different roles. I remember how Kelvin pressed on even though he hurt his ankle during practice. I remember how Chin Liang and Kah Chun, these two basketball players, took control of the game by passing on the ball to and fro till it reached their catcher. I remember how Kah Chun forgot he wasn't on a basketball court and literally bounced the ball, which of course, wasn't allowed as a rule of the game :p His "Oh man!" look was just so priceless hahah. I remember how at the very last second, Kah Chun threw the ball without even facing Nicholas, the catcher, and yet it so accurately reached Nicholas' hands! That was totally dramatic! I would think that such scenario could only be seen on movies, or drama series - but not in real life like this, right before my very eyes! Wowww. Even though my team didn't play very well, I was proud of my classmates, who won the Champion and the First runner-up. They deserved it! :)

This competition brought us close together and I'm glad I was part of it :)
