Went for the 10km Nike Run just now. It was actually a super random decision. I thought of signing up before but I missed the registration date. Soon I gave up all thoughts of joining till this day.
I was eating a slice of cheese cake while studying. It wasn't till noon that I finally finished that cheese cake. Then it came across my mind, why not take the opportunity to run since my roommate's sister registered but decided not to go for it? I quickly messaged her and one of my classmates who was also going. Then I grabbed my stuff and joined my classmates to take the public transport together.
We reached there before time, and I waited anxiously for my roommate to appear. If I didn't get to change into the particular shirt given, I wouldn't be able to join the event and all effort would have been wasted. Finally she arrived and I changed. It fitted perfectly! :) We left our belongings with the people who were in charge and got our numbers before we started running. I still remember her number was 1707 and mine 1708.
My roommate told me to keep pace along the way and try not to stop. In order for me to keep up with the speed she was going, I had to. At one point of time where there was the U-turn, we lost sight of each other. I assumed she was in front of me, so I kept running, thinking that with that I'd catch sight of her soon. Even if she was behind me, given her ability she would definitely catch up and we would meet again. And true enough, we met again! Yes she was behind me. And she specially made a trip back just to find me. I was touched by her sincerity. And all the way we ran together till the finishing line, where we lost each other again among the crowd.
I took my finisher T-shirt and started looking around for people I know. And I met a random nice girl who offered to bring me to ask about where to get our belongings. On the way, I saw my classmate's girlfriend and quickly called her. And almost immediately I couldn't see where was the random nice girl already. I just hoped that I didn't cause her trouble searching for me. I felt a little guilty but I was glad that I finally found someone I knew. So we went to search for our stuff together after a few fruitless attempts to contact my classmate. At lorry A, where my stuff was supposed to be in, we met our classmate. Finally! And soon more people gathered.
Some of them went to get our belongings while we waited. I didn't have to queue because they were getting it for me as well, but my roommate said she was in a rush and sought my help. So I took her number and went into the impatient crowd. Why impatient? Because their system of keeping and returning people's belongings was simply silly. With hundreds of bags in the lorry, three person stood at the end shouting out numbers, and as people raised their hands they passed on the bag. I mean, anyone could have raised his or her hand and got what didn't belong to him or her right? I was worried I wouldn't see my lovely bag forever. Praying hard in my heart, I waited patiently for 1707 to be shouted. After about an hour, I saw my friends squeezing out of the crowd, and with my bag too! I was more than just being happy to see it once more!
They went to the tent where the rest were waiting, while I continued waiting for my roommate's bag to appear. I waited for another hour and my classmate called me, saying that LRT station would close by 11pm, and it was 10 something at that time. I felt bad to keep them waiting so I asked them to leave first. But they didn't. Instead, Matthew, Aiman and Kelvin came to where I was and started shouting for my roommate's bag. Thankfully her bag was We Run KL bag and it wasn't long before they found it for us. So we went back to the tent and made our way to LRT station together. I was looking pale that time, that's not surprising as I sustained my whole day's activity solely on the slice of cheese cake I ate in the morning. My classmates asked if I was alright and if I needed to eat. I just answered,"It's okay, Just go." So we left.
All the way, I walked behind as I really felt bad that I might have caused them to miss the LRT. Wilson offered to help take my roommate's bag but I really didn't want to trouble anyone. A few of my classmates kept me in sight and occasionally asked if I was fine. I'm really thankful for their concern and care, and that they didn't blame me for holding them up.
At the station, all of them went pass the entrance easily with Touch'nGo card, me? I raced towards the machine to get a token. I didn't have small change! I turned and asked the girl next to me if she had any. She didn't have enough to change with me, so she gave me RM5 and refused to take my RM10 in exchange. Another random super nice girl! :) Guess what, actually I stood for quite some time in front of the machine looking for Bandar Tasik Selatan. I found it already, but it showed RM1.70 and I was totally puzzled. I came here with RM3.30 why was it RM1.70 showed??! Gosh I couldn't delay further so I just clicked that destination, hoping that I didn't make a mistake. The rest were waiting for me and Matthew asked,"Ruby, you never take LRT before?" That was embarrassing. We raced up the stairs as we saw the train had arrived. But alas, as we reached it went away. Cheng Cheng offered to take my roommate's bag for me as I was holding quite a lot of things. That's so nice of her for we didn't know each other. Joanne took care of me as well on our way back. Finally we reached.
Sometimes I don't understand why am I always giving people trouble. I feel really bad about it, but thank God it's always nice people that I meet. This Nike run was really a good experience for me. :)
