It's been a long time since I last joined a camp... Actually it's only about 3 years, but for a camp-lover like me it's considered long lol XD
I wasn't feeling well last Friday, which was the first day. Headache and whatever, I didn't even know the source of my discomfort, just felt awful. All campers set out in the afternoon, I'm one of the odd ones, starting my journey to El Sanctuary at night. A thousand thanks to Harry, who drove us there :)
An evening transport was promised in the beginning before me and my classmates signed up, but some errors occurred somehow, and we were asked if we could skip class. It wasn't our usual lecture, it was about our modular assessment, which we find to be quite important, so we asked if they could make other arrangements. Harry was supposed to go by afternoon, but he stayed back to bring us there after he was told to, so I kinda feel bad about it. I tried speaking to him in Malay (he's an Indonesian) this afternoon, just to check how far have I gone backwards in my speaking skills, and it was totally teruk! ><
We had jungle trekking till past midnight, so we turned in late. And I was thinking "Oh man, I'm gonna suffer a severe headache after this." I had only 3+ hours of sleep that night. But miraculously, my headache was gone the next morning even though I "underslept"; I didn't have to miss out any activities that day, praise the Lord! :D
The second day was really fun. We played scissors paper stone in the morning to make up a queue as long as possible. And my queue was the longest with me heading it, but I really didn't know how did it happen. Goong goong. -.- Ps. Les Lee shared the second message and had a dialogue with us, which was interesting, coz I've never seen any church camps held this way. We played station games in the afternoon, totally wild and exhausting, but fun! Picking rubber bands from a heap of flour with our mouths; memorizing 15 steps; running up and down taking photos; throwing balls of newspapers with one of our legs tied to another group member and walking in a zig-zag pattern; passing a wet sponge to fill a pail with water; spinning to get ourselves giddy before we bring a ping pong ball to the other side with a spoon in our mouths; making a long bridge with anything we had, and passing balloons with cloths.
There was a game of captain ball after that, and it started to drizzle in the middle of the game. We carried on; my team won the first round, lost the second (because Billy was too tall for us, and his team members were "ferocious" players XD), I don't know how about the third. Treasure hunt which was supposed to be carried out at night was cancelled, everyone was worn out lol. XD We had a special session, whereby punishment for committees who were caught "breaking the commandments of the camp" was executed with a CF's Got Talent show. It was amusing seeing Keng Cheng and Paul mimicking cartoon characters XD
And yes, we had a campfire! Yay!! Uncle Vincent made the effort to make us this fire even though the woods were wet because of the rain, thank you so much Uncle Vincent! :) We sang praises, and danced, like Sunday school kids XD
We had an earlier night, though it wasn't early either. I'd just washed my hair and I couldn't hair-dry coz my roommates were already sound asleep, my hairdryer would be a nuisance. I had a talk with my "owner" of the Guardian Angel game - Patience Malete. She was studying under the dim light outside our chalet to prepare for her exams, so semangat >< Gotta learn from her lah hehehe. This will be her final year of study in Biotechnology, and she'll be returning to Africa after this. She's so kind with words :)
This morning, I woke up at 5.51am and I couldn't sleep anymore because it was so cold, and my "bedmate" rolled and cuddled almost the whole of the blanket we shared, so I had no choice but to get out of bed. XD I was one of the earliest to arrive at the hall, which was surprising coz I was on time, not before time, even though I woke up very much earlier. I really learned a great deal from my group members Sung En and Paul during sharing. They must be very deeply rooted in the Word.
Breakfast was awesome!! Pancakes, porridge, bacon and bread, so mouth-watering! Before our last session, Ps. Les Lee's daughter performed ballet for us, she was so cool and composed, admiring her for that! :D After the session it was revealing time for the Guardian Angel game, Keng Cheng and Billy guessed I was their GA, that was strange, I thought it would be Paul to guess his GA was me, because Amanda and I tried to mislead him a few times XD I guessed mine right! Priscillia Angela! Woohoo! No prize for that though hehehe. My team, The Conquerors, got the 4th place out of 8 teams for the games, we had a hamper of Zip, cheesy ring and durian tit-bits, and Halls sweets. Nicholas exchanged for my tit-bits with a nail-clipper they got for second prize, because he said he didn't want "girlish stuff". -.- For lunch today, spaghetti, toast, cucumber and fried marinated brinjal, awww... so nice!
I took the school bus back this time, as I wanted to talk to people because I was in high spirits. But I felt so tired when I started talking, and I fell asleep. -.- (Overestimating myself lol.) We reached in the evening, around 6pm, I had roti canai with Amanda on our way back to Angkasa. Amanda, thank you so much for helping me to take photos with our graduating friends! And thanks for your concern and anything throughout the camp! You're like my second GA la lol XD
I'm really blessed to be in this big family of CFers. There's so much I learned through sharing. This camp is beyond my expectations, and thank God for such awesome, amazing organizers! You guys are great, thank you for the sweat and tears you poured in to give us a wonderful experience :)
Where's the "like" button? ;)
